At Makhathini Primary school, we love each and every learner to the fullest, and therefore we offer a stimulating and nurturing environment for all. Our learners grow up to be independent
from an early age and our commited team of educators, school management and parents work together to offer our learners the curriculum in a high-quality and balanced way to inspire life-
long enthusiasm for learning and discovery.
As a growing school, Makhathini Primary offers our learners a friendly environment to be educated in, enough room for outdoor play and proper love and support when they need it. The
Makhathini Family welcomes you to come and experience the Makhathini Magic at our school!

Makhathini Primary School was a project launched by the Mpumalanga Department of Education in 2012. We have since been graded as a Quintile 4 school. We are the first ever English -
Afrikaans school in Mhluzi township in Middelburg.
Makhathini Primary School started with 5 learners and we currently have 680 learners ranging from Grade RR to Grade 7.
Sports activities consist of soccer, cross country, netball and athletics. The Grade 7 learners of 2016 made Makhathini history when the Head girl wrote the school song and together with the
Head boy led the first learner Representative Council.
School Song History:
After
being
established
in
2012
as
an
English
medium
school,
Makhathini
Primary
school
was
growing
and
in
2015
began
to
show
signs of developing it’s own culture.
In
order
to
enhance
this
positive
development
of
the
school,
the
headmaster,
Mr.
Hanroux
Hugo,
expressed
the
need
for
a
school
song.
Mr.
Wim
Fourie,
the
first
choirmaster,
encouraged
the
learners
to
write their own school song…
A
talented
young
learner
in
grade
6,
Samukeliswe
Buthelezi,
produced an almost perfect version.
After
the
necessary
language
and
musical
editing
by
Mr.
Fourie,
a
school song was born.
On
the
20th
November
2015
the
song
was
officially
handed
to
the
school
by
Samukelisiwe
Buthelezi,
the
same
day
the
school’s
first
representative council of learners was appointed.
School Song
A praise poem for Makhathini Primary School
Let us hold hands all learners together
proudly a nation in the land of the sun.
Even as children we are building our school
with love and respect, singing our song:
Chorus:
Nkosi sikelela isikol sethu
Nksoi sikelela nezwe lethu.
Nkosi sikelela isikol sethu
Nkosi sikelela nezwe lethu.
Masakhane we claim, will take us to be
a school at the top of the primary league.
Ons is gebore as leiers vir more,
MAKHATHINI LET’S SING….
Repeat chorus and end.
